Short Term Mission Trips
The idea behind these trips is to participate in missionary and cultural experiences in both Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
Trip to the Indigenous Reservation of Boruca
This is a missionary trip to the Costa Rican indigenous reservation of Boruca. The reservation is located in the southern part of Costa Rica about 8 hours from the institute. Boruca has a small Christian congregation. The goal of the trip is to learn something about Costa Rica’s indigenous people and to help with the work of the church in this beautiful community.
Trip to Ometepe
This is a missionary trip to Ometep Island. The island is located in Nicaragua. There is a Christian congregation and on orphan center located on the island. The trip provides the students with the opportunity to visit a very beautiful place. More importantly, the students will be able to participate in the work of the local congregation in the community and the orphan center.
Missionary Trip to Managua
Managua is the capital of Nicaragua and the site of a Christian church led by a Costa Rican family. The family is dedicated to helping and ministering to the wonderful, but long suffering, people of Managua. This trip provides an opportunity to collaboratively share cultures and ideas in a Christian way.
Note: If you wish to participate in any special trip it is important that you indicate that desire on your registration form. This is especially true with the two missionary trips. We need to prepare special schedules and budgets for each trip. Additionally, you should describe any skills or gifts that God has given you that you believe would be helpful on the trip. Also, it is possible to help accomplish the purpose of the trip by donating cash, clothing or other materials that can be used on the trip. After we have received and reviewed your registration form, we will send you the particular information for your trip.
Remember that these special projects are a part of the course of language study. For this reason, you must attend at least one week of Spanish classes prior to departing on the trip. This will enable the you to better understand the cultural context of the trip and to begin to communicate in Spanish.
